How to Connect to Oracle Beehive Instant Messaging Platform with Android Mobile.
This blog gives overview of how to connecting to Oracle Beehive Instant Messaging platform (XMPP) with Android Mobile (Samsung Galaxy S2).
There are 2 apps present in the Android Market to Connect to Beehive Instant Messaging Platform.
1) IM+
2) JABIRU
you can download any one of the app and configure.
1) IM+
After Installation of the app, follow below steps to configure
a) Add Account -> In (Select Service to configure) window select Jabber .
b) Login --> Oracle Username ex: abc.xyz@oracle.com
Password --> Oracle Password ex: Welcome1
Description --> IM+ messenger
Host --> Oracle Beehive Instant Messaging Server HostName
Port --> 5223
Priority -- > 5 (Default priority)
Resource --> IM + Android
Uncheck Autoconnect on startup option
Check use old-style SSL (Checking of this option is mandatory from IM+ version 6) other wise it wont connect to the Host
Select Save and Connect button.
2) JABIRU
After Jabiru Installation, follow below steps to configure
a) Accounts -> Under Options --> Select Add Account
b) Account name --> abc.xyz@oracle.com
Active --> Check this box . if you have multiple accounts select a account which needs to be made active when you start jabiru.
Jabber ID: --> Oracle Username ex: abc.xyz@oracle.com
Password --> Oracle Password ex: Welcome1
Resource --> beehive
Alternative host --> Oracle Beehive Instant Messaging Server Hostname
Server Port --> 5223
Security mode: Disabled
Legacy SSL --> checked
Compress traffic --> unchecked.
One can use IM+ or Jabiru , look and feel , performance , connectivity is better in IM+ than Jabiru.
Jabiru takes atleast 5 minutes to download roster (Contacts and Groups) to your mobile and show their status. where as IM+ takes less than a minute to do those tasks.

Hi,
Do you have any information if the corporate policy is alright with us using IM+ because on OTN i read "SHAPE's IM+ works against Beehive but be aware that they use an intermediate gateway server so your corporate policy may not be ok with that."
